I'm still working on Front Street Memories so my design wall has not changed much, just moved to my dining room table so I have more room to work. I did, however, spend quite a bit of time updating my quilting scrapbook. I have a record of every quilt and quilted items (like tablerunners) I have made along with a photo, and in most cases I even have a photo of the recipient if it was a gift. I am so glad I've taken the time to assemble this simple scrapbook and I love going back through it and remembering the various pieces I've made. It was was overdue for an update. I include photos and a brief paragraph describing the piece, the title and date, the inspiration, who machine quilted it if it was machine quilted, if it won any ribbons at a show, etc. Once a quilt is given as a gift, sometimes it's very difficult to go back and try to get a photo.
Am linking to Design Wall Monday at Patchwork Times today. Her blog is such a source of inspiration for not only quilting, but cooking and just enjoying life in general.
What a great idea...a quilt memory book!
ReplyDeleteExcellent idea. My problem is the time to stay up to date. I just rely on my blog as my photo diary of projects :)
ReplyDeleteI photograph my quilts too and then blog it so I rely on the electronic record. Probably way too much. Great idea
ReplyDeleteI have a scrap book as well. But the thing I like the best is to go to a place like My Publisher or one of those and create a hardback book with your pictures and a narative about the quilt or who it is going to. It gives me a space for thoughts or whatever.
ReplyDeleteAnd I always make an extra one for my alzheimer mom.

Love your scrap book idea. I tried it many years ago and couldn't keep it up. Now, I don't know where it is. Congratulations for keeping such great records of your work.
ReplyDeleteA quilting scrapbook! What a great idea. I need to do that. Thanks for the idea.
ReplyDeleteMy sister gave me a Thimbleberries Quilting Journal when I started quilting, so I have documentation of all of my quilts. More recently I've been playing with digital scrapbooking software and have started a digital scrapbook. As you say it's fun to look back over all your projects, especially the ones you've given away.
ReplyDeleteStopping by from Design Wall Monday. The Quilting Scrapbook is a wonderful idea. Karen
